About this condition

Schmorl's nodes are small herniations where the disc material pushes into the vertebral bone in the lumbar (lower back) region. Many people have them without any symptoms, but some may experience mild to moderate lower back pain. They are usually discovered incidentally on X-rays or MRI scans done for other reasons.
