About this condition
Juvenile osteochondrosis of the tibia and fibula is a growth-related bone condition affecting children and adolescents, particularly active ones involved in sports. It occurs when the blood supply to certain areas of growing bone is temporarily disrupted, causing pain and sometimes swelling in the left leg's shin area. Most children recover completely with rest and activity modification.
