About this condition
A non-cancerous tumor that grows on the protective covering around the spinal cord. Though benign, it can press on the spinal cord causing back pain, weakness, or numbness as it grows. Surgical removal is often recommended to prevent permanent nerve damage, and the prognosis after surgery is generally very good.
