About this condition
This is a bacterial pneumonia caused by Hemophilus influenzae bacteria (not related to flu virus despite the name), causing fever, cough with mucus, and breathing difficulty. It primarily affects young children and people with weakened immunity or chronic lung conditions. Early antibiotic treatment and the Hib vaccine have significantly reduced its occurrence in India.
