About this condition
This condition occurs when the parathyroid glands in the neck fail to produce enough hormone to regulate calcium levels in the body, though the exact cause is unknown. Low blood calcium leads to painful muscle cramps, tingling sensations, and in severe cases, seizures or abnormal heart rhythms. Lifelong calcium and vitamin D supplements along with regular monitoring are needed to manage symptoms and prevent complications.
