About this condition
This is a mild, early form of thyroid hormone deficiency due to inadequate iodine intake, where blood tests show slightly elevated thyroid-stimulating hormone but normal thyroid hormone levels. Most people have no obvious symptoms or only very mild ones, but it can progress to full hypothyroidism if iodine deficiency continues.
