About this condition
Hemothorax is a medical emergency where blood accumulates in the space between the lung and chest wall, usually from chest trauma, surgery, or blood vessel rupture. The collected blood compresses the lung and can lead to breathing failure and shock if not treated rapidly. Immediate hospitalization with chest drainage and treatment of the bleeding source is critical.
