About this condition
This is a life-threatening emergency when the adrenal glands suddenly stop producing enough cortisol and aldosterone hormones. It can happen in people with Addison's disease during severe stress, infection, or if they miss their hormone medications. Requires immediate hospital treatment with intravenous fluids and steroids to prevent shock and death.
