About this condition
Takotsubo syndrome, also called broken heart syndrome, is a temporary weakening of the heart muscle often triggered by severe emotional or physical stress. It mimics a heart attack with chest pain and breathlessness but without blocked arteries, and most patients recover fully with supportive care. The condition is more common in women, especially after major life stressors.
