About this condition
A serious bacterial skin infection mainly affecting infants and young children, caused by toxins from Staphylococcus bacteria. The condition causes large areas of skin to become red, painful, and peel off in sheets, resembling a burn injury. It requires immediate hospitalization with intravenous antibiotics and careful fluid management.
