About this condition
Plantar warts are hard, grainy growths on the soles of the feet caused by human papillomavirus (HPV) infection. They can be painful when walking or standing, especially when they grow inward due to pressure. Most plantar warts eventually go away on their own, but treatment can speed recovery and reduce discomfort.
