About this condition
Hypotension is abnormally low blood pressure that can cause inadequate blood flow to organs and tissues. While some people naturally have low blood pressure without problems, sudden drops can cause dizziness, fainting, and in severe cases, shock. Common causes include dehydration, prolonged bed rest, certain medications, heart problems, or standing up too quickly.
