About this condition
This serious condition occurs when the baby cannot pass through the birth canal due to abnormal shape or structure of the mother's pelvic bones, often from previous injury, disease, or congenital deformity. Labor becomes prolonged and delivery cannot progress naturally despite strong contractions. Emergency cesarean section is usually necessary to safely deliver the baby and protect the mother from serious complications.
