About this condition

This is a serious bone marrow disorder where normal marrow tissue is replaced by scar-like fibrous tissue, disrupting blood cell production. The spleen often enlarges to compensate and produces blood cells, causing abdominal discomfort. Patients experience progressive anemia, fatigue, and may need specialized treatments including medications or bone marrow transplant in severe cases.
