Hyposplenism

Hyposplenism is a condition where the spleen does not function properly or has reduced activity, weakening the body's ability to fight certain infections. People with this condition are more vulnerable to bacterial infections, particularly from encapsulated bacteria like pneumococcus. Vaccination and preventive antibiotics are often recommended to reduce infection risk.
