About this condition

Dressler's syndrome is an inflammatory condition that can develop days to weeks after a heart attack or heart surgery, affecting the protective sac around the heart. The immune system mistakenly attacks heart tissue, causing chest pain, fever, and fluid accumulation around the heart.
