About this condition
A tear in the inner lining of major neck arteries (carotid or vertebral) that supply blood to the brain. This can occur after neck injury, sudden movements, chiropractic manipulation, or spontaneously. Blood enters between the vessel wall layers, potentially causing stroke if a clot forms or blood flow is reduced, requiring urgent medical attention.
