About this condition
This stroke affects the right posterior cerebral artery which supplies blood to the back portions of the brain including the visual processing areas and memory centers. Patients typically experience vision problems affecting the left visual field, difficulty recognizing objects or faces, memory impairment, and sometimes weakness on the left side of the body. Because vision and memory are affected, patients may have trouble describing what is wrong, making family observation crucial.
