About this condition
This stroke occurs when the right carotid artery in the neck, which supplies blood to the right side of the brain, becomes blocked. Since the right side of the brain controls the left side of the body, patients typically experience weakness or paralysis on their left side. Immediate medical treatment can prevent permanent disability.
