About this condition
A very serious stroke caused by clot blocking the basilar artery, the major blood vessel supplying the brainstem which controls vital functions like breathing and consciousness. Symptoms often affect both sides of the body and can include severe dizziness, difficulty speaking or swallowing, and even coma. This is one of the most dangerous stroke types requiring immediate intensive emergency treatment.
