About this condition
This is a stroke from blockage of one of the carotid arteries in the neck by a blood clot, preventing blood from reaching parts of the brain. It causes sudden symptoms like weakness, speech difficulty, or facial drooping on one side of the body. Emergency treatment within hours can prevent permanent disability or death.
