About this condition
This is a serious stroke caused by a blood clot blocking the basilar artery at the base of the brain, which supplies vital brain areas controlling breathing, consciousness and movement. It is a life-threatening emergency requiring immediate hospitalization. Every minute counts in getting treatment to restore blood flow.
