About this condition
Carcinoma in situ of the tongue is a very early stage of cancer where abnormal cells are present only in the surface layer of the tongue and have not spread deeper. This is considered a pre-cancerous condition that can be successfully treated if caught early. Regular dental checkups and avoiding tobacco and alcohol help prevent progression to invasive cancer.
