About this condition

Aspiration pneumonitis is a serious lung complication that occurs when stomach contents are accidentally inhaled into the lungs during anesthesia administration in the first trimester of pregnancy. This can happen during surgical procedures or emergency cesarean sections when protective reflexes are diminished.
