About this condition

Vesicointestinal fistula is an abnormal connection between the urinary bladder and the intestine, allowing bowel contents to leak into the urinary system. This serious condition causes recurrent urinary infections, passage of fecal matter or gas in urine, and can result from inflammatory bowel disease, cancer, or surgical complications. Immediate medical evaluation and surgical treatment are usually necessary.
