About this condition
A mood disorder that affects many mothers after childbirth, causing persistent sadness, anxiety, and difficulty caring for themselves or their baby. It is more severe than typical 'baby blues' and can begin within weeks after delivery or even during pregnancy. With proper treatment including counseling and sometimes medication, most mothers recover fully.
