About this condition
This is a serious condition where air leaks into the space around a newborn baby's lung during or shortly after birth, causing the lung to collapse partially or completely. It happens in the first few days of life and requires immediate medical attention. Premature babies and those with breathing difficulties at birth are at higher risk.
