About this condition
Acute appendicitis is inflammation of the appendix, a small pouch attached to the large intestine. It causes severe pain starting near the navel and moving to the right lower abdomen, along with fever, nausea, and loss of appetite. While this type has not yet perforated or developed gangrene, it still requires prompt medical evaluation and usually surgical removal of the appendix.
