About this condition
This type of jaundice occurs when a newborn develops yellowish skin due to bruising or bleeding under the skin during birth. The trapped blood breaks down and releases bilirubin, causing the yellow color. It usually resolves on its own but needs monitoring to ensure bilirubin levels don't become dangerously high.
