About this condition
This occurs when spinal cord inflammation develops as a complication of other diseases like tuberculosis, syphilis, HIV, or autoimmune conditions. The spinal cord damage appears secondary to the primary disease but can cause serious neurological problems. Both the underlying disease and the myelitis need coordinated treatment.
