About this condition
This is a rare but serious pregnancy complication where fetal blood vessels run through the membranes covering the cervix, at risk of tearing during labor. When these vessels rupture, the baby can lose blood rapidly, leading to life-threatening fetal distress. This condition requires immediate cesarean delivery to save the baby's life.
