About this condition

This is a difficult-to-treat form of epilepsy characterized by brief muscle spasms that occur in clusters, often seen in infants. Unlike status epilepticus, the spasms stop between episodes, but they do not respond well to standard epilepsy medications and may cause developmental problems if not managed properly.
