About this condition
Congenital tracheomalacia is a condition present from birth where the windpipe is softer and weaker than normal, causing it to collapse during breathing. Babies with this condition often make noisy, rattling sounds when breathing, especially when crying or feeding. Most cases improve on their own as the child grows and the windpipe strengthens.
